Update for anyone following my insanity. As I mentioned I ordered by case for the Pi + Pimoroni NVME base because my 3D printer was givng me fits. The printer is a Voxelab Aquila and one of the semi early models with the horizontal control panel instead of the vertical.
I am not super experienced in 3D printing, but doing some basic troubleshooting and it looks like time to investigate the bowden tube and nozzle, glad I did as they were both jammed up tight, Just clogged.
Got the replacement pieces from Creality with the upgraded / higher temp bowden tube which will allow me to print PETG as well as PLA,
I still have a local install copy of Sketchup 2018 on my Win10 box, going to see if it will install and run on Win 11... If so move it to my laptop and try to add the ventilation holes I want for t he Pimoroni base case. Basically the same idea that the one for the Geekwork cases uses...
I have some smaller test prints I can do first, but yeah, going to try to get this going.
If the Pimoroni works case prints well, I will print the one for the Geekworm base as well as I have 2 more of them to build and that will keep me from having to use the metal cases...
So long-ish story here, but I am trying to accomplish the following and am acquiring the pieces for it as I go...
All Pi 5s, NVME bases and NVME drives, the mobile one in the camper using Pimoroni base and a 4TB NVME drive.
A home workstation using the metal case, Geekworm base, and 2TB NVME drive.
I am looking to build a Kubernetes cluster out of 4 Pi 5s
So hardware is more ror less identical except the workstations have different cases, and the mobile one is using a Pimoroni base and 4TB instead of a 2TB Crucial P3 Plus NVME.
Hardware in common all the way across is a Pi 5 8GB, and official cooler All of the non mobile ones use official power supplies as well, aftermarkets were too costly, and all of the home ones use the Geekworm X1002 NVME base and Crucial P3 Plus 2TB M.2 NVME SSD.
I have been banging around for a bit now with t he workstation one now and after a bit of tweaking to KDEnlive, it is a very nice and functional little workstation. Certainly a LOT snappier than my Windows 10 workstation which si getting long in the tooth now (AMD FX 8 core, pretty sure the OS load is blasted, just need to archive the data off and redo that, but not relevant here...).
All things considered, I couldn't be happier, and will post up once the 3D prints are done and it is all assembled.
